About David Monroe

When I was young, my grandmother was perpetually taking photos. She was a dedicated scrapbooker, and she left behind more than 40 full scrapbooks, each one curated to hold the people and moments she loved most.
I couldn’t tell you how many times I complained having to stop and pose for yet another photo that felt, at the time, completely inconsequential. Despite all my whining, she left me her camera when she passed.
A few years later I was new to Savannah, and I wanted to know it the way she knew things, from the ground up. So I picked up her camera and started going out on Saturday mornings and photographing my way through the city. The streets, the light, the people I’d stumble across.
It wasn’t long before I understood what she was capturing. It was the faces and the lives of a world that she was enamored with. That was her legacy. This is mine.
How I work
Before we shoot, we sit down and talk. Not a sales call. A real conversation about who you are, what season you’re in, and what these photographs actually need to do for you.
I handle everything we planned and guide you into portraits that feel natural. We don’t stop at a set time. We shoot until we have what we need.
A focused set of finished portraits that feel right for who you are and how you want to show up in the world.
What I’m not
What I do is pay attention, slow down, and make photographs that look like you on your best day. That’s it.
